My kid would clearly be better off if they just spent the time reading a book. An actual book.

Honestly, only if the scores are in the "red" will anyone possibly pay attention. Maybe?? Anything else is ignored. What a waste of our kids time.

I get that as a parent you want the information, but as an elementary teacher I see the kids (despite my efforts) so tired of the testing and they just rush through it. Some kids take it seriously and work hard, but it’s a giant time suck. The county dedicated all this money to it and that’s why it’s still being used. It’s not aligned to our curriculum, so if we haven’t taught a concept yet the kids will not score well, but it just because we teach that unit later on, not that they are behind others in the class. If your child scores very poorly, that’s a red flag to find out why.

IReady was never published timely. By the time they get around to revealing numbers to parents, the kids are taking the next one. It’s been that slow for the past decade. The test was rendered useless years ago. Teachers confirmed that. Students raced through it to play stack-the-cats. The readings were the same for all 2-3 tests per year.

The iReady test is a huge waste of money and time.

So when did the new window end?

Window was extended past the 28th due to snow, so still within a month. Frustrating, but at least be accurate.

I get it, it is frustrating that kids are required to take tests for some reason and then the County sucks at uploading the scores. It is frustrating.

Honestly, the scores don't do a ton for the majority of students. I think that they are marginally helpful to identify a kid who is behind but once you know your kid is behind, I don't know what they do for you. At that time you should be talking to the Teacher and the school and trying to figure out what you can do at home to support.

But yes, it drives me crazy that the State requires all of these assessments and then little real information is shared about what the assessments are telling us about our kids. It feels like a huge waste of time that could be spent teaching kids.

Why can't FCPS be compliant with their own standards? Supposed to be released "within approx. 1 month of the close of the assessment window"

window ended Jan 28th, it's over a month later, and still no results posted in Parentvue. Mind you, the test result is automatically calculated the second the kid completes the test; I used to know my kid's result the same day in their old school district. Why FCPS holds onto these results for so long, I have no idea.
