There is also a lot of fees for extras and expectations of giving on top of the already high price tag.

I’m fairly confident making a mistake while typing quickly on my phone would not have made up for the 50k the school charges for middle of the road academics, but thanks for pointing that out, this is the exact type of pretentious presence there is at the school. It’s is filled with people who pretend to be kind, but are actually superficial and snotty.

We’ve had a pretty fantastic experience in middle school and before. Interestingly, there have been so many kids join along the way that there are no cliques of lifers versus kids who joined later, and my kid joined in middle elementary.

Everyone has different experiences, but obviously this is worth exploring further with current parents.

We joined in late elementary and had no issues with our DC integrating into the class. The other kids who joined at various points during our time there also seemed to be accepted pretty easily. We had an excellent experience in middle school.

Whether or not any school is worth the 50k price tag is a separate debate (that has been discussed to death on DCUM).

Definitely NOT worth $50,000. Have a good friend whose kid goes there.

So sorry to hear this! I believe there were a lot of applications for the younger grades this year. It is definitely worth following up with the school and indicating that WES is absolutely your first choice and that you would accept a spot if offered.

We were waitlisted for Pre-K 4 at WES and are devastated. Our son loved the school and so did we, and it seemed like a great fit. Anyone heard of Pre-K WL moving? Not sure whether to just consider this as a rejection. He got in to some others but this was our top choice.

Because the current fifth grade is quite full, WES accepted very few rising sixth graders this year, which is normally an expansion year. Congratulations! We love WES, and middle school is incredible. I’m not sure what you’re looking for, specifically, or what has made you hesitant about your current school, but happy to answer any questions.
