At JMU there will be a lot of other people who also didn't get into those other schools. His people.

JMU is a highly regardrd university. Great academics, great campus, great food, great town. He can always transfer if it's not working out.

I wish there were an equivalent in Maryland.

My kid didn’t experience this at all. Many of the kids at JMU had it as their first choice and loved being there. It’s a great school filled with happy kids.

It’s sad how much pressure these kids feel to get into VT or UVA.

There’s no reason he should consider community college. JMU is a great school and he will likely end up staying there all four years and loving it.

Doesn’t sound like a dilemma. JMU it is.

Definitely go to JMU. My bet is he'll end up loving it. And agree with the PP who said go to admitted students day.

suggest going to GMU or JMU and then transferring to UVA or VTech. kid might go off the rails going to CC and might not be interested in school at all. Maybe kid ends up liking GMU or JMU or does well and gets to transfer.

Niece amd nephew attended JMU, both loved it and are currently gainfully employed

The kids I know at JMU are very happy there. Have him go and don’t be surprised if he settles in.

If your DC can’t get into UVA, W&M, or VT, JMU is probably the perfect fit for him. I would bet money that by this time next year he will not even be considering transferring out.

JMU. He'll probably love it and not end up transferring.

DS did not get into UVA or VT Early Action and will likely not be getting into W&M regular decision. He did get into JMU EA but isn't excited about attending.

If you were in his situation, would you take a year or two off at a CC then transfer, or go to JMU for a few semesters and then transfer? He probably wouldn't be doing guaranteed CC transfer if he went the CC route. Any advice?
