Curious what turned you off Friendship? The high prices?

Sigh. We know what OP means. Someone whom she can trust not to upsell her, who will be a good doctor to her pets, and just be an easy person/practice to work with.

I don't know what you're paying now, but when we switched from Friendship to Livewell at the Parks, our bill was half as much. It's corporate owned but I thought the prices were reasonable (for reference, $85 for the exam and vaccines around $40).

If you don't mind using different places for the dogs, we love Cozy Cats.

Wheaton Animal Hospital (on the border with Kensington) has some great vets and isn't corporate. If have an emergency but they're closed, they'll refer you to Apex Vets on Georgia, which also isn't corporate.

Agree about Friendship.

If it were super easy to have a profitable vet clinic with lower prices and a manageable life balance, don’t you think a lot of vets would do that? I don’t understand what people are imagining.

I love my now-elderly Dr Perl, who is a mobile vet and comes to patients' homes. He's super booked, though. Since he's mobile, it limits the type of services he can give, which is great! He's not the upselling sort of person and will tell you honestly whether he thinks an issue is worth pursuing at a vet hospital or specialist. For specialists, he has referred us to CARES in Frederick, who are also good, but now owned by a chain. Dr. Perl is great:

I trust A Cat Clinic in Boyds MD. We continue to take our cats there even though it’s out of the way. Diagnosed our old cat within 24 hours of being seen after his previous vet made no progress on a diagnosis after multiple visits spanning 3 months.
