Build or have someone build a wood structure to hold the swings so they are adult size and put a swing or what ever he wants on it.

I would avoid tree swings if possible. The trees in this area have been stressed from summer droughts and the branches may no bear the weight even if they appear healthy.

They make saucer like swings that, even as an adult, look whimsical and fun! Just make sure the branch and the rope will support the weight, and have fun!

We replaced our kid swings on the swingset with what looked like a comfy swing from Amazon. It does hold adult weight, but it isn’t comfortable. I would test them out if you can.

You need to make sure the swing can bear weight. I used to have tree swings in the yard when the kids were little, you just hang them on the largest branch. I could also swing, I'm a small woman, but my DH could not. Also hammock is a great idea, we have a metal hammock stand that withstands adult weight.

I don’t know much about this. Does he like the rhythm or the activity? If he likes the rhythmic swing, would he enjoy something milder like a porch swing/glider or even a hammock, that he could sit in for extended periods and read, chat, etc., with the motion, but with minimum effort and attention. Or, if he wants something more active, maybe a tire swing or something else more like playground equipment?

I would post in Special Needs - you may have better responses there.

Do you want a free-standing structure?
You aren't thinking of a tree swing are you?
For an adult, I would try to find weight-rated commercial equipment so maybe it would help to know if you are interested in any other features like arm hangs.
A lot of swings I see in parks now have a round mesh circle swing in addition to the bar shaped seat swing.
