The top discussion book/favorite we've had in our book club was Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. No one ever agrees on a book...everyone loved this book. We read it years ago and still reference it.

The Heart's Invisible Furies is one of my all-time favorite books. That will always get my vote.

My book club had great discussions about Shark Heart and Sky Full of Elephants.

My favorite book no one has heard of is The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O'Neill.

I loved Homegoing! And since it's been out a bit, the waitlist might not be as long.

I just finished two excellent books (quite different from each other) that would make for great book club discussion: Heart the Lover (Lily King) and Culpability (Bruce Holsinger).

We take turns selecting a book for our book club and I'm due to select for later this spring and am feeling a bit stuck. The styles tend to run the gammut from historical fiction, dystopian, magical realism, sci-fi. Recent books that were well liked but also provoked a lot of discussion were The Night Circus, The City and the City, and Demon Copperhead. There have also been a bit of grousing over library waitlists for some picks, so I'm hesitant to pick something super new and popular (e.g. The Correspondent has been on my TBR list but the MCPL wait for the ebook is insane).

Books I am considering:
Atmosphere (still a longish waitlist but not as bad)
The Heart's Invisible Furies
Homegoing

Any other suggestions?
