Last year, we let an early offer expire without communication and ended up regretting it a little bit, although we do not have regret now.

The offer went out immediately after the 1st of 4 ID sessions that were scheduled for the team. Then it disappeared in the system, about a week after the offer but before the 4th session for that team. We didn't think they would pull the offer while tryouts were still happening. There was a series of frustrating communications with the coach and club, and they never gave the offer back.

Ultimately, our kid ended up in a better place, but we learned that we should have at least communicated before the 48 hours expired.

we are currently on the team. coach sent advanced offers before id sessions. we were given 24 hours.

2010 DS came out of REC and waited two weeks for the Alexandria first team. Finally got the offer — and now we know why took so long. He is super excited.

You can always accept an offer but until you sign a contract and pay you can always back out.

We were confronted with an unexpectedly early offer before we could even try out for the other clubs (snow storm). It just made us accelerate our evaluation whether this was something DC really wanted and the family could really handle, which essentially took us 48 hours. I'm sure we could have extended but I always think about the kids that are left in limbo so I try to move within their parameters. I guess if we found ourselves in a more "could take it or leave it" posture, I would have asked for more time.

Obviously they need a decision in a reasonable amount of time before they can offer the spot to the next player or not. Just ask for more time if you are not ready to make a decision.

I have had 2 offers pending for about 2 weeks now. 1 coach said take all the time we need. The 2nd coach said they need a decision by the end of this week, otherwise they are moving on taro the next player.

This. If the coach wants a player, they will follow up if you haven’t accepted by the deadline.

There is someone right behind you ready and willing to pay for that spot.

You have to consider that there are probably plenty of other kids they can offer if you turn the spot down, but they can’t move on to those other players if they’re waiting for you and others similarly delaying. I think a little extra time is ok and they are used to that, but a week or two is stretching it. I’m sure you probably don’t care, but try to think of the kids who won’t get first round offers and are just waiting, and try to find a balance between taking the time you need to decide and not leaving other people hanging for so long.

Depends on how good your kid is.

It would make sense to give you more time but unfortunately the clubs are just high pressure salesmen.

I mean, our kid knows what she wants. The only reason we would need more than 48 hours is if we were waiting to hear back from her top choice.
