My youngest is 9- asleep by 9:15 and awake between 7:15-8:15. Honestly he gets less sleep than my older two did at the same age-mostly because we aren't usually home early enough to go to bed earlier with the older kids activities. He fine on 10 hours, but sometimes sleeps in for more. 9 wouldn't have been enough for any of my kids, but I know everyone is different

Asleep around 9. Awake by 7. Sometimes earlier.
She was always a lower sleep person. Her sister needs a whole extra hour to be chipper in the am.

This. I wouldn’t allow a 6:15 alarm just so she can hit snooze multiple times until 7 or so. It’s bad for her sleep cycle and annoying to everyone else. She can hit snooze once.

I don’t think 9 is too few necessarily, but I would try to break the snooze habit. Maybe spring break would be a good time.

He goes to bed around 8:30-9 and wakes up naturally around 7-7:30. So between 10 and 11.

Mine is 9 and she is lights out at 9pm, wakes up around 7. That's 10 hours, so between 9-10 a night.

Kindergarten 6 year old still needs almost 12.

Mine just turned 10 but actual sleep hours are usually 930/10- 7/730. 9-10 hours or so.

I did notice a general circadian shift later at age 9. For years before that, he had been a very consistent 6 am early riser.

9 seems on the lower end of normal. Is she getting enough physical activity or maybe she has anxiety? Wondering why it takes her over an hour to read and fall asleep. I am not saying this to judge, my DS is similar.

I would try changing your DD's morning snooze routine, like maybe let her hit snooze only twice so it's only "hatching" between 6:50-7:05. She's only getting 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep! All those wake ups are not good. You could also convince her to try hatching in the living room. I let DS keep a blanket and books in our living room, so he gets up and lounges around reading in the morning.

I never really got my DS to sleep more, but I send him up to bed earlier and I tell myself at least he is resting and being quiet, which is good for the body and mind. Same thing in the morning.

Different kids have different sleep needs and patterns. As long as your daughter is happy and doing well during the day and doesn’t appear to be overly cranky, she is getting the sleep that she needs. It sounds like she has figured out how she likes to wake up, more gradually, even if it drives you crazy. Maybe get one of the lights that slowly brightens instead of an alarm clock? Similar effect but without the beeping that sounds like might be disturbing you.

Mine gets 9 and it feels like too few....but we just can seem to make the schedule work for more. She gets into bed at 8:15. Lights out at 8:45. Asleep by 9:15. We've tried an earlier bedtime but it makes the night so rushed...and she still tends to fall asleep at 9:15.

She doesn't have to leave for school until 8:00...but she insists on setting her alarm for 6:15 and hitting snooze a million times. I've tried to convince her to set her alarm for 7--she should be able to get ready and get out the door in an hour...but she needs a lot of time to "hatch" and get out of bed.

She puts out her clothes the night before and is efficient once she gets out of bed....but she likes a good hour of hitting snooze before getting up. Drives me crazy!
