what are your suggestions for things to do and see?
Historic Downtown is walkable and nice to visit. If you like history, Civil War Museum of Medicine is an interesting visit. It’s small, but really well done. Other history in the area is Monocacy Battlefield and Mount Olivet Cemetery, which has a monument to Francis Scott Key.
Downtown is very walkable and has shops, restaurants, and a collection of interesting murals, that are on the side of buildings and along the creek. There are also a couple of breweries and distilleries downtown, but if you’re driving back to DC, these might not be a great option. Baker Park is next to downtown and is a great city park.
For food, Wye Oak Tavern is an interesting restaurant. It’s located inside a converted convent. It’s pricey, so if you don’t want to spend $$$, maybe just get a snack there so you can check out the space. Other food recommendations are Pretzel and Pizza Crestions, The Orchard (healthy with vegan options), Cugino Forno (Neopolitan Pizza) and Wag’s (dive bar with burgers).
