Call me crazy...but sounds like you are firing this employee vs. your association lost sponsor funding and you can't afford 10 employees.

At the very least, perhaps connect the employee with a counselor who maybe has some expertise in the areas where this employee is deficient.

Also, a counselor who specializes in older employees (sounds like this person is older) as ageism is very real.

I was laid off in the fall and part of my package was a career counselor from LHH. I found her very helpful, although I ended up getting a new role through a recruiter. I'd recommend the company.

I work for a small (10 employees) association based in DC. We are laying off one of our employees who has been with the organization for many years. Our CEO is planning on giving him a generous severance package (6-7 months salary with health insurance paid during that time). We would also like to give him access to a career counselor, or some other professional to assist with helping imagine next steps, resume updating, job seeking strategies, etc. Does anyone have recommendations for a firm or company that would be good for this? Thanks.
