My kid buys both from thrift stores and AE. IMO, buying from thrift stores is a good idea. Think of all the clothes that go to landfills. Just wash the clothes. It will be fine. I used to buy from thrift stores, too. Never had a problem with bugs.

I’m 54, have multiple graduate degrees from impressive sounding schools, and most of my clothes are thrifted. So far so good in the fleas department.

Most teens are ridiculous. And everyone knows you wash anything you buy second hand before wearing it.

It makes me furious. My teen 16 has been acting so ridiculously lately. For instance, she will not accept purchases from perfectly good stores like the Gap or American Eagle because she is “into the thrifting aesthetic”. Why? Those clothes have fleas in them! And it’s not just that it’s a million small things like that. I had to vent. ENOUGH! What would you do, if you’re not dumbfounded the way I am?
