Are you including in the bolded the children of undocumented immigrants who were born in the United States? Because that is who can get WIC. And as U.S. citizens they’re entitled to it, as well as a free k-12 education.

Are these people paying taxes? Are they contributing to the economy? Are they contributing to the informal economy such as caregiving for children?

It’s not as simple as simple “taking” government services.

Would we be so worried about illegal immigrants using government services if our services were actually adequate? If public schools were well run and well funded, would we be upset about immigrants using them? If healthcare was as affordable as the rest of the world and provided by the government, would we be upset about immigrants getting healthcare?

If food wasn’t increasingly controlled by monopolies and crazily going up in price, would we be so upset about food stamps?

If we weren’t living in an environment of manufactured scarcity created by giant monopolies and billionaires, would we be so upset about giving to others? We have the technology for EVERYTHING to be significantly cheaper- electricity, food, and healthcare— but there are interests at play who want to stop all that from happening.
