Thank you all for these recommendations! I just stumbled upon this thread and super helpful.

For folks in VA, Virginia Rise has started promoting summer offerings: http://j-w.me/8fhxs (redirects to https://www.virginiarisevolleyball.com/announcements/250313/rise-for-spring-summer-fall).

As noted in the other thread on hitting clinics, Coach Jasmine (Paramount 12s) runs Virginia Rise.

If she wants to try out for certain clubs next year, she can attend their summer programs to get a feel for the clubs.

Check with her high school coach whether they offer any summer volleyball program (sometimes not publicly announced).

As you are in DC, St. John's camp may be close to you:

This program has been around for many years, although I don't have any personal experience.

No, more advanced girls do not generally do rec leagues. And even ones run by counties or other municipal entities charge something, although rec leagues tend to be cheaper.

I agree with the PP. Rec leagues are definitely cheaper, but our experience was quite frustrating. Even after one year of club, you lose the patience to watch a game where most players look at the ball drop right in front of them and react only after. The players don't really benefit from the activity unless you want them to learn patience and grace. Everybody needs to start somewhere, but re-starting at the same point becomes less and less useful.

OP here - We are based in DC and is an intermediate.

That link may be useful if you are close to the border with Maryland. If you are closer to Virginia, https://www.novavolleyballalliance.org/ links to various clubs, but has not been updated for one year.

Different poster- I have a 13 year old DD and live in Silver Spring. Which of these summer camps are good for an intermediate player (1 year of club, multiple years of rec/clinics)? I'm looking for recommendations on these and any other suggestions.

As your DD plays club this season, does she know which clubs she wants to try out for next year? If so, she should attend their summer camps to get a feel for the clubs.

MVSA's summer program may be a good start. They are inexpensive, but they fill up fast:

Once you start club, all the rec activities are pretty lame. I would avoid the county / city activities and register for camps organized by clubs. They can burn through your pockets though. I feel like it is too early for university camps / clinics, but they would be happy to take your money if you are willing to spend.

American's coach moved to Duke. Not sure about AU summer camps this year...
