I just put Dr Scholls into all my flats to make them comfortable. My go to flats are the Tory Burch two tone black leather ballet flats with the patent leather toe and bow.

But there’s an expensive Italian line Nordstrom has that I’m always tempted to buy because they are dramatically more comfortable than any other shoe. I think the brand has a few letters and isn’t an actual word. The salesperson always brings them out when I say I’m looking for the most comfy black leather flats.

I love Rothy's for not cutting into the back of my heel, but they don't have the arch support I also need, so I don't wear them for a lot of walking. The Vionic Uptown loafer has been working really well for me for work but they are not dressy...

You didn't mention a bunion but for that, I second Vivaia and Sole Bliss.

I got a pair of Rothy's and they're very comfortable. I'm not sure if they're dressy enough for what you need.

I know what you mean by shoes cutting up your ankles. The only flats I have that don't do that are from Camper and Vivaia. Vivaia in particular has a lot of styles that are very versatile.

Wear low-heel (basically flat) ankle boots. If you need extra arch support, size up to accommodate an insert.

I wear Clarks and Trotters brands, mostly.

Do you plan to wear pants or a dress? What do you mean by “cuts up your ankles?” Do you need flats or can you handle a wedge or a low heel?

I need to attend a few events where I will be doing a lot of walking. I am told to expect a range of dress from casual to some dressy.

I am 50 and still struggle with shoes. I need a wide toe box. Everything I buy that is not a running shoe inevitably cuts up my ankles. Hoping to minimize that. Willing to pay if worth it. Thanks in advance for the help.
