Melancholy is the perfect description of this book.

I also loved The Wedding People. I recently finished The Elements by John Boyne...trigger warning, heavy topic of sexual abuse so depressing on many levels but I couldn't stop thinking of the book after I finished it and I wanted to visit the places described in it. Also try The Bird Hotel or Other Birds. Both of these books are more whimsical but have the melancholy vibe mixed with hopefulness that I felt in Wedding People.

I haven’t read The Wedding People, but from what I remember of Great Expectations, I would characterize it as both atmospheric and melancholic.

Just finished The Wedding People and absolutely loved how much I felt like I was transported right there to the scenes in the book. I’m also feeling a little melancholy and would like to keep that feeling indulged. Any recommendations?
