My kids all have summer birthdays and we always did parties near their actual birthdays. Some kids won't be able to make it but that happens during the school year too. If he has 1 or 2 best friends you could check with them to confirm they will be around before picking a date

My kids' birthdays are both usually the weekend after the last day of school and coincide with Father's Day. We forge ahead and throw a party anyway. Yes, a few people are gone by then, but enough people seem to stick around, especially because at this point most know I throw a fun shindig for both kids and adults.

The place youre describing sounds like its for younger kids, I would pick somewhere different. If you have a neighborhood pool that would be an easy party.

+1. There are always conflicts during the school year too- sports, etc. My kids like summer birthday parties because it's a chance to see their friends, if we are available then we go. I agree the neighborhood pool parties are always a hit. Both my kids have winter birthdays and lament that they can't have an outdoor pool birthday party!

My son's birthday is the day before your son's! Usually its only a few friends he likes to have over or we take them to the movies or tree trekkers. If you plan on sending invites grab the parent contact information and get them a message in June.

DS birthday is at the end of June. We end up having his party closer to the start of school when all his friends are back from summer trips. It is too hard planning something in the summer when his friends are away at different times. He has been on family vacations for his birthday, this year he is going to be at camp.

DS is 7/17. We often did it on the last day of school. Everyone is in such a great mood!. DD is in August and we did it the firsts weekend after school started.

In our area people start leaving for vacation and summer camp the last few days of the school year. A few friends have hosed summer bday parties and less than half the kids invited came. I think people are busier than usual or want to go in “off mode” from the school schedule and social scene in the summer. My kid has a July birthday and we also do his party early, at the end of May or start of June.

I would do it over the summer whenever it’s convenient for you. Some kids may be away, but if you’re inviting the whole class, enough will come. I have taken my kids to a lot of these summer parties over the years, and the kids seem excited about seeing each other.

I always find the last couple of the school year really busy, fwiw.

My son’s birthday is July 30th he is excited about having a party where he can invite his classmates. I’m curious what the best way to go about a party over the summer, would it make sense to host it in May/June before schools lets out?

Also he is the youngest in his class, when he turns 6 this July most of his classmates will be closer to 6.5-7. He loves the Cozy Village play cafe next to us and I’m curious if your kids that are closer to 7 would be entertained?

It has a doctors office, fire station, construction zone, salon, market and kitchen. It also has a small climbing area with slides (essentially a small indoor playground).
