If they are interested in the beach, make a reservation at the Annenberg Beach Club in Santa Monica. The reservation is basically for the parking space. Once you're there, they have beach chairs, a pool, and a cafe. The Academy of Motion Pictures Musuem opened a few years ago--I haven't been but it sounds great. Brentwood Country Mart has cute shops and is a great celeb sighting spot.
The Annenberg Beach House and pool is an awesome place, we went there years ago with our kids, it's an historic pool and very reasonable, around $10/person (or was maybe 2019 or so). But the main attraction is the pool and pool deck/chairs, and that part is only open from Memorial Day through end of September, so wouldn't work for a spring break trip.
