"Upper Middle Class" is a dcum term meaning "rich, but we have to keep working to maintain our preferred standard of living." It doesn't have to do with the actual middle of anything.

The upper class generally doesn’t send their kids to public schools just because they are 65% white.

How so?

We had kids at Wolftrap years ago. The principal when we started was quite autocratic and wanted to run the school her way. She ignored parents who provided input on their kids’ needs and tried to limit the number of Wolftrap kids who could move to Louise Archer. That made some people unhappy. Then the next principal was much more friendly and open. So the tone at the top matters. I can’t speak to the current principal.

It’s always been a nice school with a supportive community. It will be more unified if all the kids are going to Madison. There was a bit of tension because some of the Madison parents at Wolftrap made a very big deal over being zoned to Madison and talked trash about Marshall. Maybe that has changed, too, but it won’t matter if everyone now goes to Madison.

Wait, really? I knew Madison, but Thoreau, too? Who is getting pulled out of Thoreau?

No one right now. If they put AAP at all middle schools, though, they’ll need to move some kids out of Thoreau.

13% Asian. Skews wealthy. Teachers are average, admin is fine, PTA is great.

It’s a rich kid school. Mostly white.

It’s an amazing school and everyone treats the kids well and the parents are so nice and the principal is engaged and the front office is so helpful.

I saw an old thread but would love more updated feedback
