We did it, super effective at cutting down the glare in our room with wall to ceiling windows on one wall. It cost about $2k four years ago for the mid range tint.

We used https://www.aptinting.com/ and they were easy to work with and send you samples.

So don't have something you love where you want it? The film is a great way to mitigate the issue COMPLETELY and have the things you love where you want them in your freaking home.

Yeah, if the painting is that valuable move it to the dining room or living room from the family room.

Check to see if their film will void the warranty on the windows.

Switch the painting to another room and bring another one that looks good but cheap.

I did it when we lived in Atlanta.
Found out quickly that the windows trap the heat and if there are any cracks (some behind the frame) that the window shatters.
It is still worth it but just wanted to pass this info along.

we did it like 15 years ago on two skylights after a couch was ruined. future couches have no sun damage. Don't notice it at all when you look at them.

We did (though not local to DC) and yes, it helped but is not noticeable.

Has anyone had film placed on windows to cut down on the sun. We don't want to always close the blinds but have paintings that are getting ruined by the sun.
