Most schools have club programs. Regardless of whether he plays any kind of soccer, he needs to consider the school. We knew this and so did our son, but a coach at a school we all knew was not a great fit for him (too small) attracted him to the program, so he committed. It lasted a year. Loved the soccer, but that is not the only important thing. I don't know how old your son is, but you might think about spending spring break touring some schools that he has the grades to get into if you can. Once they get on a campus things start to become clear to the kids.

UMD has club soccer. It's who you know not how good you are. My DS is a freshman and knows kids that made the team but don't like it. if he's not getting recruited, go to the best school he can get an education.

My son doesn't think he wants to play soccer in college, but he does want to play soccer while in college. He likes the level of soccer he's playing now, which is like ECRL level.
