Plenty of ways to show interest without uselessly harassing overbusy admissions reps.

I would not take a school's word at its face value. For example, WashU says it doesn't track demonstrated interest, but I suspect that it might be used as a tie-breaker. Also, when one clicks on a link to an email from all these schools that say they don't, the browser brings one to a temporary website for a second -- forgot the name -- and then immediately goes to the linked school website. This temporary website logs the click, which may or may not be used, but if it's just a few clicks, why not do it?
