I hate spas, so I would let the spa go. But if you are looking forward to a spa day, then work.

I’d skip H’s family things.

Work could also be skipped BUT not if it’s going to stress you out later on, like if you have to play catchup.

why do you have to take it in the next 16 days? I’m assuming the gift certificate expires or something, but maybe if you call and ask they will give you an extra week or two to use it, as long as you book then.

Skip work!! Zero hesitation.

It depends on what you mean by "crucial juncture" for work. I don't think it's a big deal to miss work, BUT if it would mean that you are just going to have to scramble/work even longer hours to make up the work that piles up while you're away, then that's not great, either.

So my choice would be work (as long as you're not setting up your future self for misery) or DH family thing. I wouldn't miss the bff's bday.

I would skip work or the family get together but not plans with my bff.

People are entitled to their time off, especially if they’ve been working non-stop for 10 months. Taking two days off won’t derail your career, I promise! Or, if one of those other events is local, you could go to the spa on a weekend day and either Friday or Monday (for example, if bff celebration is on Sat, go to spa on Sunday/Monday, if it’s on Sunday, go to spa on Friday/Saturday), so you only miss one day of work.

Skip the work thing. In 30 years, this would not be the one you regretted missing.

I got given 2 days at a spa, but have to take it in the next 16 days. Which one of these would you miss if you were me, or would you not miss any and let spa weekend go?

One of dh family's twice yearly all family get togethers
birthday celebration for bff whose dh passed away a year ago
work when i'm at somewhat crucial juncture.

I desperately need this time and have been working like crazy for 10 mos with very little break so i hate to not take the opp.
