I want someone who understands HRT, who will do bloodwork, who will make recommendations re: bone density, nutrition, etc. Right now I have a PCP at Georgetown University Hospital and she's fine, but does not know anything about women's health as I age--e.g. when I asked her about HRT, she said, "I think HRT poses cancer risks, so I'd just skip it."

HELP! I need a doctor who knows stuff about women's health!

I have cigna insurance, and it's not bad in terms of coverage.

PCPs have limited knowledge of OBGYN because that's not their specialty, they did Internal Medicine or Family Medicine training. You need an OBGYN, preferably one who doesn't do labor and birth anymore and their target clients are women in perimenopause or beyond. If you are really too busy to see two doctors then make sure your PCP is certified by menopause society. They aren't as good as OBGYNs but more up to date than average PCP.

I like the NPs at Kelly Goodman. They have all been trained in menopause and do everything you listed above. I see Michelle and she has been great figuring out HRT for me. Most importantly they listen and offer suggestions.
