I’m actually glad theyre putting this on peoples radar but I’m more concerned it says the virtual session is Thursday march 11th but march 11th is a Wednesday. Anyone know which day it actually is?

Show up to the session and express your frustration? Email says you can talk to MCPS staff at the sessions.

This surprises you? Taylor was hired by the BOE knowing what he'd do. Of course they will approve it. They claim they are hurting for money, yet he goes on a spending spree.

I guessed I missed the info on how middle schoolers will be affected with the regional model.

Don't vote for Silvestre or Yang for Council. There are plenty of other candidates. This behavior should not be rewarded

I mean, technically it hasn't been approved, but was all know that rubber stamp from the BOE will be coming. So yeah, effectively it is approved and they are certainly moving forward as if it were.

Nope, it hasn't been approved yet (won't be until March 26) but MCPS has been arrogantly talking like it's a done deal for months now, this is nothing new.

(I mean, practically speaking it does indeed appear to be a done deal-- the Board has been signalling that they plan to approve it. But MCPS should still have the decency to pretend that the Board has free will and could vote no, and to either use terminology like "proposed" or wait until after the approval to do non-urgent things like info sessions for elementary schoolers.)

My 3-5th grader DOES NOT care about HS yet. They are still waiting to see if they’re taking compacted math or which MS electives they will get. This specialization so wary is over the top.

MCPS is wasting time and money on this instead of addressing OLO Report 2026-2.
1. Has MCPS created a formal, written course selection policy that limits principal discretion? Where is it published and what are consequences for non-compliance?

2. What specific accountability mechanisms ensure schools in the regional model will deliver promised programs year-to-year?

3. Has MCPS completed cost analysis comparing current spending versus the regional model's projected costs?

4. What prevents the regional model from replicating the principal-driven inconsistencies documented in the OLO report?

5. When will the internal study on "course availability, curriculum and resources" be completed and made public?
