I’m not sure why you believe this, but this is not accurate at all.

Major-Specific Rates: While overall admission is competitive, specific, highly sought-after majors have very high acceptance rates (e.g., ~90% for Finance/Accounting, ~85% for Marketing, ~53% for MIS) for students already at UGA.

Both are fantastic schools. Not a bad decision. UGA out of state is exceptionally hard to get.

UVA McIntire internal admit rate isn't 50%. It's lower than that and is dropping every year.
I believe it was last 30%. It totally feels like a 5th year of high school.
Below are last year's stats.
For example, only 84% of kids with a perfect GPA for the entire freshman year got it (and a 4.0 is really not easy to do).

The kids at UGA just seemed more carefree. They were bubbly and presented well. Strong kids no doubt, but less of an edge. UVA felt like an extension of NOVA when we visited which wasn’t my experience. Don’t get me wrong, selfishly I’d like DS to be closer!

Good grief.

It’s true.

Basically, your kid has a 5th year of all the high school bullshit for UVA.

UGA no surprise has a strong network in Atlanta and the southeast. Not so much on Wall Street and the northeast…though if you network like crazy (and yes…consider a fraternity), not out of the realm.

Do you have a cite for any of this?

Just do a Google search. It will govern you the AI summary from the UVA website and a link. Same for UGA.

Says UVA has a 50-60% internal acceptance rate while UGA is 90%.

I’ll pass on an AI summary but would appreciate links from the actual websites. The higher odds of getting in would seem like a good thing if it’s true.

So, do the Google search and it will give you the links.

It’s actually pretty well known that UVA and UNC undergrad business programs are competitive internal acceptances. Not a given by any stretch and require top grades, ECs, etc.

It’s weird to make a claim and refuse to provide a link. If UGA actually admits 90% that’s great. What you described doesn’t make UVA and UNC seem desirable for business if you get left out even if you can do the work.

DS is deciding between UVA and UGA for business and had considered UVA to be his #1 choice until we recently visited UGA and Terry. We were both blown away by UGA and now it seems like he’s leaning towards Terry. I’m a 90’s UVA grad and UGA reminded me of what UVA was like when I was there. Does anyone have experience with either than can pinpoint differences in the curriculum or experience? Please don’t respond with rankings or political comments.
