My DH is in tech. About 5 years ago when he was interviewing the company that expected this much time paid him for his time! I know that market has changed, but they gave him a choice (I think at about $30 / hr) among various gift cards.

Is he Black? Happens to my Black husband a handful of times, who is a seasoned professional. He withdraws his candidacy after about 4 rounds, depending upon the availability of other roles.

Wow - that seems extensive. Is this the norm in his field? Not knowing, I wonder if they are going to never be satisfied.

Employers are ridiculous with the insane number of interviews that they require, even for entry-level positions. I had been looking and all required 3-4 interviews, a writing practicum, etc. etc. Some of the interviews were with a panel.

It's stupid.

Well, he shouldn't walk away from that company ... but he also shouldn't stop looking elsewhere. Keep applying, keep interviewing anywhere he can. If something else comes through with an offer before this company makes up its mind, then he goes with that one.

But it would be dumb to cut off the interview process if he doesn't have something solid in hand.

You do whatever you have to do, together. If one or both of you needs to get a night/weekend job to tide you over, you go for it. Just try to keep his weekdays free so you can be available for all these interviews.

If you really need this job financially, then enough isn’t enough, right? You need to be patient- it sucks, but if he gets the job it’ll be worth it.

My husband took 18 months to find a new job. My best friend just go hired for a part-time position that is adjacent to her field after nearly that long, and it will tide her over while she continues to look for a full-time job in her actual field.

So... patience, grasshopper.
