I live in Georgetown and my husband and I just ate there today. We liked it and eat there frequently. For the person who suggested La Bonne Vache in Georgetown, we love it, but they don't take reservations. Whoever suggested Filomena...great idea and it continues to generate good buzz. You could go there and walk to the waterfront after.

Whoever suggested The Wharf, it is fun, but OP said some don't like " funny food"...and many of the Wharf restaurants are ethnic. We had fun there this summer at a place there, Pink Tiger, but it is mostly Asian food. There are other Asian restaurants there, seafood, etc.

It's going to be a small group, maybe 5 or 6 kids, so budget isn't super important.

What is the budget? Bistro L'Hermitage is charming for brunch, I love the little glass hens on the tables, but it might not be the right aesthetic for teens?

Peacock Cafe is perfect for this. Lots of options for your daughter's friends, lively atmosphere, and right in the middle of Georgetown so they can browse.

My daughter's 16th birthday is coming up, and she's looking for a restaurant that is lovely inside (and out, but not as important as it will probably be too cold), and provides a nice ambience, but does not serve "weird food". A couple of her friends are picky eaters, so wild boar ragu is right out. She's thinking brunch or lunch. I would prefer to stay in NoVA (a little further West is okay), but DC is an option as well, especially if it's near Georgetown or some place where they can wander around after/has things to do.
