Miami for sure! So many great restaurants too. It’s a really fun city. Second would be Palm Desert/Springs, but like you said further. Much more peaceful nature vibe.

Honestly, I don’t understand why anyone travels to a beach and prefers to sit by a pool. Weird.

Embassy Suites San Juan isn’t ocean front but has lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach.

OP here - yes I also have that thought! In an ideal world I would sit by a beautiful beach but I was kind of thinking that beaches in cities like San Juan and Miami might not be worth the extra money for a beachfront hotel. I’m sure there are cheaper options elsewhere in PR (l really want to visit Vieques for example) but I also am looking for something that doesn’t b require a lot of planning or travel time.

Orlando hotels are usually pretty cheap for what they are. Ft. Lauderdale and Miami might be taken over by college spring breakers soon.

If you just want a hotel with pool go somewhere landlocked in FL. Closer to the coast, the more $$

You can find affordable boutique hotels in south beach.

FWIW, my dad lives in Naples and said its been very cold for FL (60s). You may need to go more south.

Check out the Marriott vacation world properties in Orlando. There are 4-5. The Marriott Cypress Harbor was great and has 3 pools.

Others to try: JW world center, grande lakes, or any of the smaller hotels like residence inn, Spring Hill suites.

You don’t say budget but if you want a resort pool it will cost more.

Also check out Naples or Tampa, Clearwater. Or Miami/ft lauderdale.

I have a bit of time between jobs and MUST get out of DC and sit by a pool. Has to be domestic (because I let my passport lapse). I prefer it to be cheap because all I want is a pool and comfy bed - don’t need anything fancy. I also don’t care if there are a lot of kids around but I would like to be able to get a pool chaise easily.

Would it be nuts to just check into an Orlando hotel? Seems to be cheap to get there are there are a million hotels with pools.

Also interested in Miami (could be fun to go to a museum and get Cuban food when not at the pool, and see a new city) but all the nicer hotels look expensive.

Anything further north in Florida actually looks a bit too cool right now for the pool.

My other ideas are Phoenix and Palm Desert but they are more expensive and longer flights.
