If Democrats try to go as low as Republicans, or even lower, then people might as well vote Republican. The whole point is to provide a BETTER choice for the country.
People like to think of politics as a linear spectrum, but I think it’s more of a circle. In practice, there really isn’t much difference between a right-wing dictatorship and a left-wing dictatorship. In both cases, those in power really only care about preserving their power and benefitting from it. Whatever ideology they may have preached to attract the necessary followers to obtain power was important only as a tool to use for their true purpose, themselves. Make no mistake, countering a Republican tyrant with a Democratic tyrant will not turn tyranny into a Utopia. Moreover, all who think to benefit from allying with a tyrant should remember that historically, as power turns paranoid, those who were early allies in achieving power are often perceived as threats to maintaining power, and consequently at risk of being purged.
