I know! Trying to sort through all of that! I do French press or pourover; think that is coarse and fine. I like good coffee but am not a snob to the point is distinguishing the taste between grinds! I do find my blade grinder a big mess which is why I rarely use it. I often just grind beans at the market but am reading coffee is much better with freshly ground beans.

Do you care if your French press coffee has a little fine grounds in it? If you don't mind I'd go with any reasonably basic burr grinder like a Breville.

If you're very particular about the preparation and grind then go with something nicer like the Baratza Virtuoso.

Had my Krups for several decades now. Well I stopped drinking coffee 20 years ago and use it for peppercorns and spices. It's still going strong.

Yes. We have a Baratza one. Picked because all the parts are replaceable if or when they break or wear down. No complaints, I think we have the Encore or Viruoso. I don't use it however. My husband is the barista in our house.

My DH bought a burr grinder for $300 and I almost passed out at the price but that thing has been a workhorse for over 10 years now.

I cold brew and had to upgrade my burr grinder to get the right coarse consistency. The coffee is delicious. I haven't touched a blade grinder in 20 years.

I use Mr Coffee 5 cup BUT I use a burr grinder. Night and day difference compared to blade grinder on same beans. I have a real burr grinder, not a cheap block grinder.

Following. I make a pot of regular brew coffee in Mr. Coffee and have it with oat milk and turbinado sugar. What do you really get from fancier coffee machines and coffee bean grinders different from the ones at MOMs?

Is it worth the extra investment and trouble?

I've had the same basic blade one forever...did not even realize there were levels of quality of coffee grinders. I usually make French press coffee.

Is it worth spending $100 or $150 on a grinder? The Post article this week made it sound like the grinder was almost more important the the coffee pot!
