It was $750 plus tip with 1-800-got-junk. They base it on a flat fee for the trip plus volume in the truck. I wasn’t willing to spend time finding a stranger to accept it , couldn’t /didnt want to carry out to the curb, and didn’t want to hire some teenagers to haul it down the stairs and ding my walls.

I called and they did a same evening removal because wanted a new couch delivery to happen the next day.

Seemed expensive but worth it to me.

OP-OMG. I think it cost less than that from Ikea when I bought it 15 years ago.

No- post it for $50 or $100. It is well known that free things make people act superbly entitled. But a deal is a deal!

If it is in a usable condition and not too shabby, put it on freecycle, FB marketplace or Offerup.

If no one wants it from those places, it must be really bad. Call the county for bulk pickup. If your neighborhood has trash pickup by a HOA, the county won't pick it up and you have to contact your HOA, who in turn will give you the contact info for the company picking up trash, and you deal with them. They will charge you around $150 for a 2 piece sectional and around $200 for a 3 piece sectional. Post on Next-door and if anyone is willing to do it for less, go with them.

Those things are heavy

The cost for junk pickup is often based on volume rather than weight.

Not true where i live. It's very much by weight and the type of thing you're dropping off.

Depending on how far the nearest landfill is located, I would say no less than $75. 🚛

HAve you ever tried dropping bulk trash off at your country landfil? They charge by the lbs. If they're charging you $100 to take it and drop it off, they'll likely be charged close to $50 by the landfill. Hardly a money grab.

1. Check with county- may have annual free bulk pick up .
2. Facebook marketplace for free.
3. Junk service will run you about $200-$300
