I was surprised to learn our school only blocks 18+ sites. Which I learned because I heard a friend of my daughter (age 12) met a grown man online, emailed with him for several months, and was making plans to meet with him in person - all from her school laptop and school email address. The mom coincidentally discovered this when the daughter was slower to switch screens when she looked over her shoulder. As parents we don't have any way to monitor the kids' school email, the school doesn't share the kids passwords with parents, and yet in this instance the school takes no responsibility for what happened.
I thought most schools restricted the email network, blocked You Tube, etc.
