+1. We’ve had an amazing experiences in the U.S and in other parts of the world. I’m a fan of mixing it up.

+1 the "world" is different than the US culturally, and you won't find old castles and the history in the US like you would elsewhere.

If you mean nature, then sure. Every country has something about it that's wondrous in terms of nature.

I grew up in Africa and move here 20 years ago. I have visited every single state and national Park.

The US is an incredibly beautiful country. I don't think Americans realize how big and diverse their country is.

+1 we do both. For example, spring break or long weekends in the US and summer breaks International.

I'm a foreigner living in the US and don't like to think in terms of borders. I just think about what I want to see in the world. There are quite a lot of National Parks on my bucket list, right up there with World Heritage Sites. Right now the place I most want to go is Olympic National Park, one of the rare temperate rainforests in the world.

I don’t divide my trips up like that. We go where we want given the situation- time off, time of year, what our interests are, budget.

It depends. How much of the world, and how much of the US, have your kids already seen OP? That matters a lot.

Go where you want to go. There is plenty to see in the US. Europe is sometimes easier and cheaper to get to oddly.

Does anyone feel like you should travel with your kids in the US before the world? There are so many beautiful and distinct places in this country that I wonder if I should show my children our country first. But I find the appeal of international travel more exciting to me. E.g. I would rather spend a week in Paris than in San Diego. But do I give my kids the impression that other countries are better than the US if I make international travel what we do with our time off?
