My DS (now a college graduate) took AP Statistics.
Funny, now he is really into investments and interest on mortgages, etc. However, his job is not especially math related. His wife was a Business major, but he handles the bills. Go figure.
Hated, hated math, but he is quite intelligent.

I think I have a similar kid OP. Do you mind me asking what his grades were in Alg 1 and Geo, and were they honors courses? This is helpful for my daughter also.

I like the idea of asking their teacher. I also think while you are in school - take chances and learn things that may not get an A. Math is the language of the universe. Not for grades - for them. To grasp some element of it. I know we play all sorts of games for college apps but I’ve bee there and done that - when it comes to math- keep going as long as you can.

FCPS math teacher here. I think he should take AP Precalc AB. If he is easily getting As in regular Algebra 2, then this is the way to go. I am assuming he is college-bound?

But to answer the questions above, DS is currently a sophomore, so this is for junior year.
The options in the course catalog are:

Trigonometry/Prob & Statistics

What are the math options at his school? Look at those. I would guess that there is something that is not AP or Calc based, applied stats maybe?
