In Chicago, thousands of high school and college kids walked out of school at the same time, and then continued to protest downtown after school hours.

Well, in Woodbridge over 300 students got suspensions for walking out.

Because many kids take the bus and aren't lucky enough to have a parent just sitting around waiting to collect them. If you have to ask, you clearly do not understand why there is a need to walk out in the first place.

Why can’t they schedule the walk outs this week for after class?

Isn't the point of protest to be disruptive?

Students who walk out are trying to be disruptive. They should be ready to accept the consequences of such behavior, that might mean a 0 on an in class assignment or detention or whatever the consequence is.

Most of the kids dgaf and just want to skip class. Truancy is on the rise and this an easy way out for the kids who don’t want to learn.

So you actually aren't all for students freedom of expression. You only want them to express their ideas on your schedule.
Walk outs get attention precisely *because* they are disruptive.
I'm so heartened to see the kids getting involved and taking a stand for their community and county.

Doesn't everyone "walk out" after classes? Maybe they should make it a stay in. If you want to protest, you stay after school.

They can “walk out” at their part time job then- and see how it goes.

As a minor at school, you shouldn’t get to be disruptive to the school day.
