SIS is a great program. It is also relatively slow paced and extremely detailed in its execution. Children with severe dyslexia may need an approach like that. For a child with mild dyslexia, I’d opt for a different Orton-Gillingham based intervention, like Wilson.

In person. Have the tutor give you things to work on - in the days there is not tutoring.

I teach Sounds in Syllables both in person and virtually. I must say I vastly prefer in person, but I’m not sure it results in more learning than virtual. I do all the same things and the kids seem to progress at the same rate.

You may still have the option of Sounds in Syllables in person three times a week - have you asked for an in person therapist? It depends on your location, of course.

Good dyslexia remediation is multisensory and is easier to start in person.

Down the road, at what age would the child transition to virtual?

I have so many questions about dyslexia and am wondering if there are websites focused only on that. All suggestions welcome.

Question 1 for me right now is whether I should do twice a week in person remediation with a skilled person who uses the Wilson curriculum or 3 times/week online with a well trained certified person who uses Sounds On Syllables.

More frequency = better but online versus in person for a 3rd grader? Her dyslexia is “mild” in that she’s reading on grade level per I-ready with an extra time accommodation but she is a VERY slow reader.

Looking for insights into the dilemma above as well as additional online places to ask questions. Thanks!!
