Get the Sports Engine Tourney app. That will have lots of low level local tournaments that would be good for a team wanting to just play for fun (shots up, premiere go time hoops, etc)

How do we find out ahead of time where and when the tournaments are, who's going, etc?

Filter by state. Good starting point.

You need team insurance to practice in most schools. It's not hard to get and not expensive, but it's been too many years since I did it to have a contact.

Anyone can do it. AAU has a site. Are you ready for the time commitment, cost and hassle? You better be obsessed just so your kid can start.

My kid and his friends will be doing it, not me.
