Actually, it just needs to be cut properly — which often means choosing plus sizes constructed using plus size fit models — rather than larger versions of Misses sizes based on fit models with non-plus proportions. Extra (not visible) buttons are nice too, if gaps are a concern.

This is very casual, but it will still give you a little polish. You could wear the light colored one with black pants and whatever shell/blouse is good color for you.

I say this as a 55 year old lawyer who has been trying to keep updated in a conservative but more casual office environment. Silky blouses with patterns on them just seem dated on me now.

Believe it or not I had a lot of luck with Amazon. In'voland tops have really nice material. Browsing their page, some of the patterns are a bit loud for my taste, but if you find a style you like, it's usually also available in solid colors that would be more appropriate for a work thing.

All of the above, plus look at the Torrid Harper blouse. It's my go to for stuff like this. I have about 20 of them and wear one everday.

Nordstrom’s, Quince, Talbots, Universal Standard, Eileen Fisher … would all have nice sweaters and blouses that could work for what you described.

I need something to wear to an presentation in a week, where I'm hoping to impress someone who has the ability to offer me a job. I work in a field where a suit does not make sense, I plan to wear black pants and shoes, and a shirt or blouse of some kind, but I need a new one!

Where can I look, either on line or in person, where I can find something that will work?
