I mean, you can find bargains in every big city if you look hard enough, including Paris.

Medellin, Bogota, Ljubijana - we've been in the last 3 years and inexpensive. Marriott had a deal on Ritz Toronto a while back and that made the trip worthwhile.

If you want to fly do an open ended search on Google flights and see where you can arrive cheaply and then check which of those places has reasonably priced lodging.

Yes, and to make it even cheaper, road trip there. Staying in Vermont on the way is a nice option.

Flights will determine this, so just start looking.

Agree that Hawaii real estate is mostly protected from developers or owned by one of a few monopolies, and the prices reflect that.

Not sure if you’re looking for beach or not. If not, we took a spring break trip to Ireland last year. Nonstop tix from IAD to Dublin were cheap at the time, way cheaper than Phoenix that was our original plan. We visited Ireland right before busy season and found it reasonable.

Mass market cruise lines like Carnival will take you to Caribbean destinations inexpensively. Relatively inexpensive cruises from Baltimore can take you to Canada or Bermuda. The price per night for many of those options is relatively low, especially when you consider you're also getting food and transportation.

That said, cruise experiences vary widely by line, vessel, cost, and itinerary, so manage your expectations to be in line with your budget, just as you would when selecting land-based accommodations and restaurants.

In addition to Carnival, relatively inexpensive options are available from MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean International.

Hawaii is notoriously expensive. For similar weather and activities, try Costa Rica. Agree with El Salvador, Panama and Columbia as cheaper options.

Or stay in the US, there’s so much to see and do.

If you’re craving a beach, Florida and Cancun/playa del Carmen Mexico will have cheaper flights. Also Puerto Rico.

There’s a Margaritaville cruise that goes from West Palm to Grand Bahama. Is that cheap enough?

El Salvador. They have 6 flights a day (not kidding) from Dulles and prices are cheaper than many US domestic flights. They use the US dollar as their currency, and things are cheap there. It's very safe now (second lowest homicide rate in the Americas, after Canada).
