It really doesn't matter except maybe for the showcases during prime recruiting years. Otherwise it's just a parents pissing match.

My kid was in Alexandria for that one previous GA season. From my understanding we weren't kicked out for performance - don't get me wrong, we were QUITE bad - but due to administrative issues.

Metro United had the GA license and was on its way out, so they tried to join forces with Alexandria at the 11th hour. They needed a partner and Alexandria needed a pathway to keep the older girls from leaving for other clubs. So they played that season as "Metro ASA" but didn't cross all the t's or dot all the i's and GA Leadership said no deal.

Again, this isn't to excuse performance - my kid's team used to get trounced weekly. But joining GA came totally out of the blue - they had a parent meeting in the spring and told us we were joining a new league - and the step up in competition wasn't something many of the girls were ready for. They showed a lot of progress and were much better at the end, so it was a good learning experience. But I dont think GA would drop a team after one year based on performance alone

If a club can’t field enough teams to compete at each age level, that’s a sign they are not long for GA. If a club doesn’t travel or participate in the showcases, that’s a sign as well. I’m not so sure being at the bottom of the table at all age groups on a consistent basis means you get kicked out, at least not in the past. But with Aspire, you could see some relegation if you’re just not competitive.

How did Alexandria get GA back this year and when they were kicked out previously?

Think it was 3 years ago they had to drop out due to performance. They hired a new Technical Director and Girls Academy Director that allowed them to return.
Looks like they are towards the bottom in most years which is not surprising given they are new and held tryouts very late last year.

Aspire is only half way through the inaugural season. I doubt anyone knows.

I assume this is about The St James. TSJ will happily take your money and then oops-a-daisy every promise they ever made to you, stressing how “truly committed they are to your DD’s success” and “apologizing for any inconvenience.” You thought you were getting GA but you’re getting Aspire or another league altogether? “We are confident our path forward will provide opportunities for development for DD that are even better than GA!”

For example, could they take away Loudoun's GA status and make the current Loudoun GA teams become the Aspire teams while leaving NVA as the club's only GA teams?

I'm looking for feedback from someone with actual knowledge about what it takes to maintain a club's placement in Girls Academy. Once you're already in GA, for example, can you be demoted (to Aspire) due to lack of club performance? If so, is there a "warning" year or is there a standing metric for performance and the clubs at risk of not meeting this metric(s) should know that it's likely coming for the upcoming year? My DD is considering a couple of GA clubs for the '26-'27 season who haven't had a ton of top-to-bottom age group success over the last two years, but where her specific age group is actually decent. Aside from any issues or reasons why you might not want to join said club, the last thing I would want her to do is to commit to a GA team only to find out they're not playing in GA next season.

If you're only guessing, you're in the same boat as me. Looking for someone who knows the actual answer. TIA
