I would say that Riptide and District Dynamo are the top clubs in the area I have seen but both are too far for us personally.

At that age, my kid started with Dribble Up. The gamification got him into ball mastery where as he now will train on his own without devices, etc at U11.

If you do basic ball mastery with him for 20 minutes on a daily basis, you will do more than any futsal program. Sole rolls, V pulls, L turns, etc are the basis of any great futsal player and can be trained for free.99

This is good advice especially given your kid's age. If you are looking for development, use one of the training apps (eg. Techme) and just do 20 mins a day of ball mastery, wall work and/or juggling. Stacking days in succession is the key to get the touch and muscle memory.

There are year round futsal programs that seem to be loosely affiliated with certain training platforms. False 8 is another futsal/training option. I'm not sure if they offer futsal year round but they have good technical training.

I don’t have a good answer for you except avoid The St James at all costs. They will sell you hard but behind the curtain the program is a disaster. That goes for their outdoor soccer teams as well. It’s really too bad because the kids deserve consistency but the administration of the soccer and futsal programs is unprofessional, immature, transient, and unaccountable.

My son is a 2018 kid playing U9 travel and we are very much in the “still learning” phase. His outdoor travel team had a futsal team this winter. It was a cool experience but short - they really only played in January with two games scheduled in February. His travel coach was the couch. It became pretty apparent (to my non-soccer self) that futsal is a different skill set. We’d like to do more of it but I don’t know where to start. He’s not at the level that I see of some of the Instagram ads. Where can he learn the fundamentals and get a good experience in during the off seasons? We’re in NOVA. Thanks for any tips!
