Anonymous wrote:Yale is 18% and Brown is something like 21-30% Asian. Its just variations in the demographics the schools attract. JHU is renowned for STEM, which a lot of Asian Americans pursue. The schools I mentioned above + Chicago are known for humanities and social sciences, which less Asians pursue.

I was looking up CDS today because saw posts saying all T10 schools are 40%+ Asian.
While it's probably true for Hopkins, I found out that Chicago takes 20% Asian.
Why does Chicago have a much lower percentage of Asian students than Hopkins?
Anyone know why? Does that mean Asian applicants have an advantage at Hopkins compared to Chicago?
TIA

JHU was only 25% Asians in 2023 but jumped dramatically to 45% in 2025. Harvard for the past three years was 30%, 37%, and 41%, also exhibiting significant increase. [i]The timing appears to align with the magnitude of funding/other threats the current administration imposed on elite colleges.[b] No colleges want to remain in the crosshair, but the extent to which they are willing to compromise seems to vary quite a bit. Like you said, certain schools seem capable of maintaining the status quo -- UChicago at 21%, Northwestern at 26%, and Duke at 25%, with the latter two having good-to-great engineering programs. Not sure how they managed that.
