I went to law school in New Orleans, and I miss it so much.

The Columns. Go to The Columns.

Café Du Monde is very touristy, but I used to go up there every weekend. I loved it so much.

I will second the recommendation for Commander’s Palace.

My favorite restaurant was Jacques Imo’s. It can be a bit of a wait though.

We did a tour with this company on a girls trip and had so much fun:

Definitely go shopping on Magazine St. For restaurants, here are some suggestions:
Herbsaint
Cochon for lunch
Compere Lapin for brunch (you can drink out of a copper bunny)
Beignets at the Ritz (much better than Cafe du Monde, although late night beignets at Cafe du Monde are great too)

If you are into history at all, the WWII Museum is amazing. I also liked Mardi Gras World.

And do a ghost tour in the French Quarter--so much fun.

Taking a short weekend trip with a couple of girlfriends to NOLA in early March and looking for some recommendations on restaurants, upscale bars and things to do! We are in our late 30s and have kids, so while we would love a good wine/jazz bar, not looking to stay out all night on bourbon street!
