My husband did this several years ago and the stylist just pulled things while he waited in the dressing room. There wasn't much planning or thought that went into it. He wasn't impressed. Seems like a random sales associate working the floor could do the same.

A friend of mine had a similar experience. She felt like tge person understood exactly what she wanted and needed and loved the service.

OP here - sorry for late response I’ve been out of town. This was in NYC at the flagship store - should have mentioned. The stylists name was Danill (pronounced like Daniel).

I did spend more than I wanted to but I had the Nordstrom card so I just put it all on there. After thinking on it a few days I may end up returning one or two things. It’s hard because I really do love everything but I might have went just a tiny bit overboard lol.

I'm in my 40s and feel like I've been in a fashion rut. Many of the current styles look ridiculous yet the 'older' styles make you look frumpy especially if you've got mom bod I saw Nordstrom had the free styling service so decided to give it a try. I filled out a form online and within a day the stylist reached out to me via text with some additional questions about me and my style and asked for a picture. He also asked about shoes, accessories, etc.

When I showed up at the store, there is a separate area specifically for styling. He had a room set up for me with all of the selections. With the exception of a few items, I loved EVERYTHING. He really knocked it out the park in terms of my style and items that were fun and unique yet age appropriate. And for the things that didn't fit or weren't my style, he brought me some different things try. And most of the items were things I probably would have never found or chose for myself.

I did end up spending quite a bit more than I had intended but I felt really good about everything I bought and didn't feel pressured at all. They packaged everything up nicely for me and gave me a garment bag for the dresses. Normally they courier everything directly to you but since I was going to be out of town the next couple days they sent me home in an uber instead so I could take everything with me. Overall it was a great experience and was so much fun. I highly recommend it.

This was my experience as well. Which is why I wouldn’t do it again. But I’m glad you’re happy with it, it sounds like you have a bigger budget than I do.

Same here. And then I felt pressured to pay that much and regretted it afterwards.

DP but I bought a lot and I returned a lot a few days later and didn't feel bad about it.

They courier things to you? When I did it, I just paid and walked out, like a normal shopping trip. That was 10+ years ago though.

It was useful to do and I'm in OPs position of feeling like it's time to turn over a large part of my wardrobe, so maybe it's time to do it again. I'm never going to fit into my old favorite clothes again and I don't have any new favorites, just stuff that's good enough.

I find the sales people at Evereve to also be very helpful. They seem to watch what you're picking out and they bring suggestions over. Or at least they do in Reston.

I think it depends on who you get...

I have a polyester allergy and that certainly makes shopping harder. I told the stylist and still half the items in the room had polyester in them. I didn't leave with much and didn't feel like trying again.

What location, OP? I used Jill at Tysons a few years ago and she was okay, but the selection was terrible because they didn't have anything in stock in my size, so I had to order and then come back to try things on/get things tailored.

Need name of stylist. I had a very opposite experience two years ago with someone else. Nothing my size, didn’t believe me when I shared my size, kept pushing things that were far beyond my stated budget and not in conformance with what I was looking for. Literally, I left with one pair of shoes.

Was this at Tysons? What was the name of your stylist?
