He is already out of the running for a top 30 school. We need to be honest with her. If he doesn't have a big improvement, he will be out of the running for a medium ranked state school. Ask me how I know.

Not OP but to that I would say- so what?

Was this within the last 10 years? Or are you saying he got into a 2nd or 3rd tier college?

There's another 4 months of school. You sure he's going to end the year with a 3.1?

Doubt it unless there was another hook. When was this?

And when you say every where he applied, did he get into a top 75 school.

A bunch of BS.

And what kind of school? A Catholic high school or a Sidwell/GDS?

Is it OK for what is the important question.

Are you under the impression that he’s headed to a super elite college? Barring an unlikely scenario, that is unlikely. Can he go a school that he loves that prepares him for whatever we wants to do and lead a fantastic life? Absolutely.

Ok for what? Is he working hard? Asking for help when he needs it? If yes, then it's ok.

If you're asking whether it's "ok" for top X colleges, you're asking the wrong question.

It’s not the end of the world, and the second best kind of transcript is one that shows an upward trend. He just needs to work hard to make sure he has an upward trend.

It depends on the school and scale your school is on. Can you share?

It’s recoverable, but will take a lot of focus and drive!

Is that ok? Son had a tough entry from out of state K-8 parochial.
