I’ve known 2 men who were billionaires (met thru work/worked with them).

First one was a jerk. Was used to yelling and intimidating everyone to get his way. The first day I met him, he yelled and me and cussed me out for something I had literally nothing to do with (think, like, a bird pooped on his car). Extremely controlling of his wife. I could tell he viewed her more as a possession and beneath him.

Second one was a great, great guy. Extremely chill, kind, strong moral code, absolutely devoted to his wife. I actually felt kind of bad for him, his wife was often pretty mean to him.

When I was 10 (in the late 80s), I decided that given the mess male leaders had made of the world, and the fact that it had taken 200+ years for women to get the right to vote, we should abolish men's voting rights and right to hold any kind of office for 200 years and see what happened...

A tiny number, mostly women. Dolly Parton, MacKenzie Scott, Suzanne Collins - people who might be difficult in person, I don't know, but they give generously to charity and stay tf off social media and I appreciate them for that.

I think a good way to explain the difference is that it’s very simple and relatively common for any random person to become broke and face hardship regardless of their financial status or class whereas it is very difficult and relatively uncommon that a kind and empathetic person would ever become a billionaire in the first place.

Obviously everyone understands that but the point is that evil and corrupt broke men share some key traits with the ultra rich. Things like corrupt self dealing, lack of empathy, abusive tendencies and a lust for money and power. Even rich people can lose everything but that doesn’t change anything about what it takes to become that wealthy in the first place. We are talking about the same personalities here regardless of their momentary financial success.

Some people who inherit their wealth can be very empathetic and charitable without becoming machiavellian but usually that’s because they have personally witnessed the depravity of their own parents first hand and what it took to get that money in the first place. So in the end even that money is tainted.

I think to get to a lot of those levels, men and women have to have a certain level of sociopathic/psychopathic behavior. There is a lot behind the scenes that's necessary to get to that level, and you don't get there by being nice and morally right to everyone.
