AISGW changed its recommendation from June 1 to May 1 for the binding date this year and most if not all the independent schools are following that.

Catholic schools have a different date than the date most independent schools agree on. Seems those dates shifted this year.

Things do seem to be changing. One school I looked at for my son had an early May commitment date. I’ve only ever seen the June 1 date at our current school. Did other schools move their deadlines too?

Are you in the DC area? I’m not aware of any schools notifying in January and requiring a response by mid February. 2/27 is the most common with some schools two weeks before or one week after but overlap of at least a week in the acceptance period.

+1 I’m curious what school this is. I also suspect it’s not DC area.

I put them on the wrong list, sorry. Madeira all 2/27.

SSSAS also is 2/27.

It’s always been that way. There are families that are also hoping for publics like TJ that have even later dates. One student could put down and walk away from two or more deposits. Each family has to figure out what level or risk and/or monetary loss they are willing to accept.

I've not hard of an early action / notification concept for DC area independent schools.

This. Unless you are a sibling or Beauvoir applying to NCS/STA, I don't know of anyone who releases decisions before end of Feb/first week of March. Are you outside the DMV or are these tiny schools or something?

No, because it is completely logical for schools to not make switching schools frictionless.

You need to pay a deposit somewhere and be willing to lose it.

What schools have sent out notifications/early notifications? We applied to schools that all have decisions released end of February.
