It's not funded for FFX county to Rouse though-- doesn't meet the distance threshold. Our school doesn't have the money for that (but did do it for VA Beach where VHSL paid).

This is the same for our FCPS HS. Swimmers are on their own in terms of transportation and lodging this year.

Yes - a little disappointing they don’t even get a bus to States. If it was the football team, chartered buses for sure.

Well, let's be honest. Money is going to go to Football and basketball. And they do "earn" more with ticket sales then swim. But there is the HS discrepancy that continues through college.

My swim meet admission fees alone should have covered a bus for the day. But I know DC would prefer not to be stuck on the bus all day.

How long of a break between prelims and finals? Do most just go have lunch and hang out?

Haven’t heard anything from our coach yet.

I actually bought a nearby house in Fredericksburg so that my DD will have a place to relax between sessions for the next few meets there.

Didn’t realize you could scratch into the state meet too.

Mostly day trip, though more affluent may get a room. If you get a hotel to nap between prelims and finals, you have to pay for both Fri and Sat to be sure to be able to access between noon and 4 pm

Jeff Rouse is a great facility, my swimmer loves competing there (and the smoothies at their snack bar). Like PP said there is a large shopping center nearby with a lot of food options. I haven’t experienced parking being tight though, they have a decent sized parking lot (although it is shared with events on the fields, but I don’t know if that’s an issue in February). The seating inside is also fine, it’s down low so you are super close to the pool so sometimes the view is obstructed if you are sitting in one of the first few rows.

Was there last year for the VISAA State Meet. Parking and seating is pretty tight.

FWIW, there is a Publix Grocery Store and a shopping center across the road from the facility. I think there is a Jersey Mike's, Starbucks, Chipotle and a Tropical Smoothie if I remember correctly (there are possibly more things...). So lots of options for food right there if you need a break and/or for in-between sessions.

Good luck to your swimmer(s)!

How are States run? Is it a Friday evening/Saturday evening meet? Is there some sort of timeline from prior years that I can look at?

Trying to figure out if we need a hotel room or how to manage it.
