Is the kid at Chicago? There seem to be a lot of kids who get in there from private high schools (which place average or middle of the class kids at Chicago) and then try to transfer out to another top10. It rarely if ever works.

Agree. I don't think the reason for transfer is that OP couldn't find his people.

Although OP appears mysterious and didn't state any valid reason for transfer, he did mention that he is not happy at the current T10. Without naming the T10, it's unlikely he could get much useful suggestions here.

Brown has spring Transfer so they may have already filled some of their class? Dartmouth takes very few.
I’d look at transfer ED - U Chicago or Northwestern? Also Columbia and Vanderbilt. Michigan but the deadline may be soon?

Please share more about this spring transfer? Does that mean you submit a transfer application earlier than the regular transfer? How early? What is the spring acceptance rate?

What exactly is the issue? There are some that are valid - location, desire for a niche major for example. But if it's just "I thought I would do better than Chicago or Cornell" - unlikely to happen.

Very unlikely to happen. Definitely not happening at any of the tippy top schools since they like community college or nontraditional candidates.

Brown has spring Transfer so they may have already filled some of their class? Dartmouth takes very few.
I’d look at transfer ED - U Chicago or Northwestern? Also Columbia and Vanderbilt. Michigan but the deadline may be soon?

I know of a T20 to T10 transfer who was initially scared to make the leap but is very happy now.

This is a dumb idea unless they ED'd to Chicago, not knowing what to expect in terms of academics.

So, DC's good friend unhappy at a T10, and is applying to transfer to, it seems, every other T10.

Any examples of success with this strategy? Not my business but it seems like a huge suck of time and money, probably to get rejected everywhere but at best to get an acceptance to a very similar place where the kid would have to start again from scratch.
