RMIB pretty much has sports recruit every year. They need to maintain a high GPA (harder after the grading policy change) and of course qualify for the division you are aiming at, and it's quite common for them to also serve the varsity team capatain role and won "Athlete of the year" or something similar. Seriously committing another EC that's time consuming and goal-oriented is nearly impossible if your kid swims like 20 hours per week.

If they are at that level, any school they will struggle and it will be a grind.

It all depends on what kind of kid you have. My oldest went there and she is just go-go and always had been. She did a varsity sport 4 years plus club sport off-season and also had another significant extracurricular that was many hours a week. It was a lot but she’s the type of kid that is more unhappy the fewer things she has to do.

It’s not something any of my other kids would want to do — they just like more downtime in their lives.

We have a senior in RMIB, and DP graduate who is in college. The current senior has 6-7 days a week of activities for a quarter of the school year due to a sport and another EC. There's time for ECs if your kid is not a perfectionist and not a procrastinator. It makes a big difference if your travel time is short. We are zoned for RM.

There are IB students who swim for RMSC and for RM.

Black maskers can be a time suck if they are involved in both productions - fall and spring. My kid has been part of it since 9th grade. They're a senior now.

They barely sleep. My kid didn't do that, but their college acceptance reflects that even though they had super high stats. They did have two decent extra curriculars.

Many kids in IB program do extracurriculars - I know several involved with the RM drama program - assume it would be similar time management for other activities.

My DC swims 7 days a week, but some sessions are early morning. His schedule is pretty packed, so I was just wondering if he can still do well at RMIB and balance extracurriculars along with other outside school activities (like hobbies)?
